At the tip of Africa two oceans collide, creating one of the most productive eco-systems on the planet. Here, one of the largest shoals of fish known to man form the basis of two food chains that split and extend for 100’s of miles.
The drama surrounding these humble fish is played out deep beneath the surface, but at certain times, and at crucial locations, the presence or absence of these fish creates ripples of change that are felt across entire ecosystems.
In this traditional blue-chip documentary we show a dramatic comparison between two environments fed by the same stock of sardine, and dominated by the Cape gannets.
Will the gannet adapt to it’s changing world? Can the sardine stock survive, and in turn support the wide array of marine predators that rely heavily on it.
