Snakes in the City

As summer builds on the hot, humid coast of South Africa, a huge variety of dangerous snakes invade the bustling metropolis of Durban from the surrounding countryside. This high-adrenaline series follows the daily exploits of professional snake-catchers Simon Keys and Siouxsie Gillet as they remove a terrifying range of snakes from office blocks, homes, gardens and schools.

The city of Durban is unique in one respect - nowhere else on Earth do you find such a wide range of snakes with such devastating venom. Black and green mambas, spitting cobras, boomslangs and puff adders all need to be dealt with when they invade human territory. The snake rescues in the series are punctuated with natural history segments which inform the viewer of each snake’s natural behaviour and physiology. Simon and Siouxsie face massive dangers on each mission, but they always ensure their deadly adversaries are released back into the wild.
