Islands the world over are often hotspots for natural history research. They are evolutionary epicentres where the development of species can be seen in action. In this series we take a close look at the animals that call islands home.

Over the course of 3 episodes we discover the animals that find themselves stranded on islands, it can place them in a land of opportunity, but it can also become a prison. Some animals thought find the islands to be sanctuaries, where they adapt quickly, finding new challenges, but also rewarding niches. Once these creatures have established their island homes they pick up the pace, racing to be the best at exploiting the new opportunities and prepare to take over! Of course, evolution happens all the time, but thanks to islands we can see it in action.
