Adventurer, animal activist and unlikely celebrity, Ric learned to protect the dolphins he once captured for the entertainment industry, starting a revolution that inspired people for generations to come.
Originally known as being the personal trainer to the dolphin who played in the iconic Tv series “Flipper”, we feature never-before-seen newly restored archival footage, as well as interviews with celebrity supporters, friends and family members, as this intimate portrait chronicles the life and career of the man who has passionately fought for one of the most iconic animals in the world – the dolphin.
More Recently, through his organization Dolphin Project, Ric Lincoln O’Barry and his son worked with local partners in Indonesia to set up Umah Lumba Rehabilitation, Release and Retirement Center in Banyuwedang Bay, West Bali, the world’s first permanent facility dedicated to rehabilitation and release of dolphins.
From Taiji to Hurghada, from Bimini to Rio de Janeiro, it’s been a long strange trip on the long and winding FREEING FLIPPERS trail.
