Former Detective Jeff Jackson and Medical Examiner Zee Madieras attend a gala where hotel owner Britt Prajna receives an emerald brooch from India, resurfaced from the black market. After the party, with the brooch carefully placed in a safe, Britt goes home, where she’s knocked unconscious, and the brooch disappears. With numerous suspects, and a murder, Jeff and Zee find a letter containing a riddle that might foretell where the precious heirloom could be.
