Natural History and Wildlife

The World's Rarest

A powerful journey revealing Earth’s most endangered creatures—an urgent call to protect what remains before it’s lost forever.

The world is facing an urgent biodiversity crisis. Untold numbers of animals are at risk of being lost forever, with many species racing towards extinction. These include some of the shyest and least filmed animals, and there is a real chance their final cry will go unheard by humankind.

In this show, we try to highlight some of these incredible creatures, from the plucky, armoured pangolins to the critically endangered rhinoceroses, who live in constant fear of the poacher’s bullet. These creatures all have one thing in common – their plight would be considerably lessened without our interference in their world. Their number is a depressing list, but it’s one we can learn from. Films provide a record of Earth’s wonderful wildlife, but this is hopefully not an archive of what’s lost, but evidence of what we should be preserving.
