Masked Bandits

Sneaky scoundrels in the night, lovable rogues wreaking havoc in the shadows, a quick bin raid or two – and by the time we’re up, they’re safely tucked up in their beds. 

This is how most of us imagine raccoons, like criminals trying to hide their true identities. We don’t reserve this treatment for raccoons, either – any animals that have dark stripes across their eyes we cast as cartoon burglars, from red pandas and badgers to coatis and raccoon dogs. But despite their shifty appearance, these masked bandits are intelligent, social and highly adaptable.
