History of Life on Earth

The story of Earth punches far above its weight considering our planet’s tiny size compared with our vast universe. It’s an epic tale four and half billion years in the making, with drama and surprise at every turn. What’s more, in all the vastness of the universe it is unique – for here alone, life began. From the very beginning, the natural world has displayed a spectacular and thrilling diversity of colour, form and behaviour.

In this series we take a journey through the 'History of Life on Earth' starting when the seas were full of life, to when the first land masses emerged and animals took their fist steps on dry land. To the rise of the giants when the dinosaurs ruled the land to mammals that followed and took over leading to the stunning diversity of animals we enjoy today and the start of our dramatic story on Earth.
