Despite the internal clan politics often found in hyena society, the North Clan are a powerful, disciplined militia. They are formidable in battle and rally together for the sake of the family unit. Led by Waffles, the dominant female, this 70-strong unit impose a reign of terror on the plains of the Maasai Mara.

The North Clan are a formidable group of 70 hyenas lead by a fearless queen, Waffles. Born of a relatively low rank, Waffles fought her way up the hierarchy to become the matriarch, the most prized position of power. She has commanded respect from her clan mates ever since. But she is getting on in years and her throne could soon be under threat, given the presence of a few ambitious contenders in the clan. Waffles’ only female descendant, Soup, a granddaughter, is in the running but another female hyena, Sauer, also has her eye on the royal seat of power. There is an imminent battle brewing that could see Waffles ousted, or even killed.

When Waffles gives birth to twins, the new additions become heirs to the monarchy. Clan rivalries spiral to a new level of complication. But the rest of the clan slowly begin to integrate into life, coming to visit and interact with their monarch at the den site where her babies are hidden. But it will only be a matter of time before the rivalries re-emerge.

How long can Waffles hold onto her throne and who will be North Clan’s next sovereign?
