A daredevil and a free spirit, Nathanaël Maury travels the most inaccessible places on Earth in search of rare reptiles.

Over the course of his explorations, he became aware of the fragility of the reptiles habitat and the threats that they face. Some species are doomed to extinction, probably even before they are discovered.

This prompts him to dedicate all of his energy, knowledge and financial means to an encyclopedic project: an iconographic work that will describe from various angles every reptile and amphibian species still present on Earth.

First destination: the Sunda Islands in Indonesia. One of these islands, Flores, is a haven for giant monitor lizards and numerous snake species… The ideal exploration field for a young adventurer-herpetologist.
