Commissioned for Channel 4 UK for their primetime slot, the series is presented by English presenter and actress Mel Giedroyc.
Hosted by Mel Giedroyc, this inspirational series takes place in a custom-built workshop filled to the brim with the very best tools and wood; nestled in stunning ancient woodland. Revelling in the unabashed beauty of the surroundings, this series is a bucolic sensory overload.
Our nine woodworkers have to impress judges RIBA Stirling prize-winning architect and so-called "King Of Wood" Alex De Rijke, and highly-acclaimed founder of The London School Of Furniture-Making Helen Welch. Over 2 working days the woodworkers will create hugely impressive big builds, and have to navigate the skills challenge… The builds will be elaborate, artistic, sculptural and extraordinary: dream-like beds, miniature houses, iconic chairs, drinks cabinets, animal sculptures, fantasy garden buildings.
The show uncovers the skills and characters of a very special and intriguing world – the world of woodworking – and does so with passion, jeopardy, scale of endeavour – and a bit of sawdust, of course.
