In every episode, four contemporary singers are assigned a legendary 80s song – one originally performed by a generation-defining star such as Madonna, Michael Jackson, or Cyndi Lauper.

They have two chances to shine. First, they must bring the original version of the song to life, with a spectacular, full-blown, music video-style performance. Second, with the help of a leading producer, they are challenged to reinvent the song for today’s audience.

A panel of three leading music experts give their verdict on whose performance best captured the original and whose personal spin on each classic – whether jazzed-up or stripped-down acoustic - really rocked. However, it’s the studio audience who decides which song they would want played again and that song wins the coveted Play That Song Again! Gold Record.
