One of the most loves animals, famed for its playful nature and incredible underwater agility. Yet most of the life of the otter goes unseen. Following the first year in the life of a young otter family, we’ll reveal the secrets of the otter’s world.
Otter life is often a challenge, and especially so for a young family trying to make it through winter. Two pups were born last spring, and as they approach their first birthdays the time with their mother is coming to its end. All year the mother has spent eight hours a day hunting, providing sustenance for herself, her milk and the pups.
But as the ice fades so does their close family bond, and the pups must start to find territories of their own. From here on they’ll fend for themselves, navigating dangers and hunting for food. One day, maybe they’ll start an otter family of their own.
