Axolotl: Salamander from the Underworld

PLAY

Deep in the dwindling waterways of Xochimilco, South of Mexico City, hides a creature that embodies abilities so remarkable that scientists have tried for hundreds of years to unravel them.

The Axolotl possesses an extraordinary ability to regenerate any part of its body and defies aging entirely. Scientists have recently unlocked its genetic code, offering new hope for regenerative medicine in humans.

Yet, this remarkable creature teeters on the brink of extinction, with fewer than 100 individuals remaining in the wild. As its survival hangs by a thread, a coalition of locals, conservationists, religious groups, and cryogenic researchers fights to save it. But is their effort enough—or is it already too late?
