Under Siege - The Sharks of Ascension Island

PLAY

This film reveals what happens when nature tilts out of balance due to human interference. Sharks are supremely adaptable hunters and altering their natural behaviour can have fatal consuquences.

Marooned a thousand miles between South America and West Africa, Ascension Island is one of the most isolated ecosystems on the planet. But now, after one of the biggest shark invasions on Earth, the streets are vacant. Deserted. Tourism has stopped and many locals have fled the sharks. Ascension is now the Amity of the Mid-Atlantic. How did it get to this? What chain of events led to create the perfect storm of sharks? And what triggered the first and most violent shark attacks in Ascension’s history?
