Blood, Sweat & Greens – The Exploitation of Europe's Harvest Workers

PLAY

We enjoy a year-round supply of cheap fruits and vegetables in our supermarkets - but how are the working conditions of the farmworkers who harvest them for us?

This documentary traces the fruits and vegetables from our shopping cart to farmland in Europe and exposes the systematic exploitation of harvest workers, especially migrants. How does the fruit and vegetable system and its trade chains work? What are the real costs of the products we buy? What should a kilo of exploitation-free tomatoes cost? The film does not only investigate the issues but also explores potential alternatives and engages in conversations with farmers committed to cultivating fruits and vegetables without exploiting their farm workers.
