This film looks at the behind the scenes build-up to the world’s first all-electric Grand Prix series held in Beijing. Some of the biggest names in Formula 1 driving have staked their reputations on this new competition, including Michelin, McLaren, Renault and Williams.

The Formula E Championship is motor racing as we know it, but only electric-powered cars qualify. Normal Formula 1 racing has a massive carbon footprint and to try and change this, a new type of Formula racing was conceived; city-based, single-seater, electric car motor racing.

From the moment Formula E is announced in Paris, to the blistering secret tests at a rain-swept Donington Park, it’s a high-tech romp in a race against time to get the cars to work. But not simply work. These cars need to be at the top of their game.
