History

Sisi's Legacy

PLAY

Discover the enduring influence of Empress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary, tracing her legacy through generations of nobility.

She is an influence of success: Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary, wife of Emperor Franz Joseph I, known as "Sisi".

With the death of her only son, Crown Prince Rudolph, her line's claim to the throne expired, but Sisi's heirs still shape life in the European aristocratic houses to this day. She had 15 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and a corresponding number of great-great-grandchildren. Their descendants married into numerous noble dynasties, in a similar way only the descendants of Queen Victoria did. We follow her footsteps in the past and present and get to know Sisi as a mother and grandmother.
